Treasury bonds are issued by United States govt. for citizens of USA. Treasury bonds are issued as debt on government. These bonds are issued for different time periods. 10 year Treasury bond rate can be obtained from official government site or other economical survey website. These bonds were first time released during First World War. US government was short in money and there were no other nation from which they can take loan. So government has decided to take loan from its own citizen. So they had issued these Treasury bond for limited period. People had to buy these bonds and after few years they can cash it after gaining interest. First time it was decided to sell it for only one day but due to its high demand sale went on for weeks.

There are four types of investment option as treasury investments are TIPS, Treasury bond, Treasury bill and Treasury note. Rates of these bonds depend on current inflation rate of country. 10 year Treasury bond rate vary every year. Treasury bills are for very short period of time. These bills mature in one year or less. But these bonds will not get interest before it gets matured. Treasury notes generally mature between one to ten years of its purchase. 10 year Treasury bond rate are written over the Treasury bond. But these bonds are sold on discount. Ten year treasury notes are most popular bonds in United States.

10 Year Treasury Bond Rate

Treasury bonds are issued for about twenty to thirty years. These are for the longest duration of time. These bonds mature at longest period and are also called as long bonds. Foreign countries have also invested in these US treasury bonds. China is the biggest buyer for these treasury bonds. Second biggest investor is Japan. Treasury bonds, bills and notes are tradable securities. These can be sold in secondary market. There are also some securities issued by government which cannot be transferred or resold. These are savings bond. For keeping an eye on current Treasury bond rates you should regularly keep an eye on market. You can resell these bonds when you think you are getting enough profit. These are also good option for getting money in times of emergency. In any emergency condition you can sell some of your bonds and get required amount of dollars you need.
